How Snakes Came to The Forest - Summary Essay

It took me a while to prepare this for posting. Sorry about that, guys. I really like this story. I like all the mythologies about the great cats , actually, but this one and the idea of tigers having stripes from shadows are really good. The main theme in How Snakes Came to The Forest is understanding your enemy. Many people know that understanding their enemy will help them to win a fight against them. Some people may forget or disregard what they know through overconfidence in their skills. No matter how good your natural skills are, you should never underestimate your enemy. Sunpelt already knew ‘snakes are cunning and will outwit us every time’, but believed his abilities would allow him to subdue Mouthclaw. She ends up tricking him with a wish she grants in return for her life. The main character in this short story, from Warriors Field Guide: Secrets of the Clans , is the protagonist, Sunpelt. Sunpelt is introduced to the reader in the first sentence of the first paragraph o...

How LeopardClan Won The River: Summary Essay

We're reaching that few short stories in the Warriors Field Guide: Secrets of the Clans . I immensely enjoy the legends of the great cats . They are some of my favourite short stories out of this guidebook. This particular short story is also one of the longer ones in the Warrior Cat guidebooks.  So, to satisfy our curiosity, let's dive into the final story from the original Warriors guidebook and see what depth it contains. I am delighted to be able to share this with you. The central theme in How LeopardClan Won The River is deceit. Some people use deceit to trick others into doing things they would otherwise not attempt. The fallout of the deceived actions can be a source of guilt, causing the deceiver to give up more than if they had been truthful. In the short story, the leaders of LionClan and TigerClan deceive by not mentioning Rage's mate, Fury, when telling Fleetfoot about the boar. Fleetfoot may not have tried to attack the boar if she had known. Because of ...

The Coming of The Silver Cat - Summary Essay

Stoneteller is the Healer of The Tribe of Rushing Water . He has the role of both a leader and medicine cat, neither of which he seems to be doing here. He’s the only one who can guide the Tribe , and he’s desperate. And this desperation is reflected in the rest of the Tribe . Whenever you’re in a role where others look to you for guidance you’ve got to be mindful of keeping emotions that are unhelpful in check. Desperate people make rash decisions or are completely devoid of any sort of energy to do anything. Sharptooth attacking the Tribe is bad, but I think Stoneteller’s state of mind is doing just as much harm to them. When those who look up to you sense strong emotions coming from you, they often reflect them. Their collective desperation is self-destructive here. Though maybe I’m being too hard on him. It is a terrifying situation, being stalked day and night. What do you guys think? The summary essay for The Coming of The Silver Cat is below. The main theme that The ...

Flight From BloodClan - Summary Essay

Flight from BloodClan had one of those moments I just love to see in Warriors : when a wild cat, including Clan cats , see that twolegs aren’t all bad.   ‘From the way he cradled her as they went back inside, I could tell he would take care of her. I don’t know why I felt so sure we could trust him, but I did.’ Pg 144-145.  Don’t get me wrong. I love reading about the cats living their lives away from twolegs. Scenes like this just give me a warm fuzzy feeling, and a part of me’s saying, ‘See, we’re just like you,’ or ‘We do care.’ What do you think of these scenes in Warriors ? Do you like them, dislike them, or not really feel either way strongly? It felt great to do this short story . For one thing, it’s one of the few times we get to see BloodClan , and the difference in their dynamic to the Clans is interesting to read about. Other than this, I only recall The Darkest Hour from The Prophecies Begin and The Rise of Scourge manga. The second is that writing the sum...

Not Just About Herbs - Summary Essay

I don’t have much to say on this one. Not Just About Herbs is a sweet short story to me, but doesn’t bring up much thought. The only thing I can say is that I wish we could all be Leafpool : we find our passion , and get to pursue it as a career. Unfortunately, life is rarely so kind. Not much else so, here is the summary essay for Not Just About Herbs . The main theme in Not Just About Herbs is purpose. In life we find something that is important to us. We cannot imagine us not doing it, or working towards it. For each individual, this thing is their purpose.Leafpool knew she wanted to be a medicine cat when she was a kit. Her sister understands how important this is to her. Her experiences in this role are described with mingled amazement and seriousness, conveying the importance she gives this task to the reader. Someones purpose can be a hobby, job, or an interest, but it it is always important to the individual. The main character in the short story is the protagonist, Lea...

Before There is Peace, Blood Will Spill Blood, And The Lake Will Run Red - Summary Essay

I've talked about what I think of the prophecies in the stories before . I've said how I know some people find them annoying because they are cryptic and don't seem to help the characters. I also said how I enjoyed trying to guess at their meaning myself. That's within the world of the stories themselves, though. I think I've finally cracked it. The prophecies are meant to be like this. They're cryptic, confusing, and sometimes aren't understood until they come to pass…because they're a metaphor for life experiences . I was thinking about how cryptic the prophecies are. This one was probably one of the ones you would be least likely to guess the answer to. The characters never guess the meaning, though. Do they even do anything? Wait. In the short story Before There is Peace, Blood Will Spill Blood, And The Lake Will Run Red Leafpool asks what could she do about it. The prophecies do affect them. The cats act in ways they probably wouldn'...

Darkness, air, Water, and sky will come Together and Shake the Forest to its Roots - Summary Essay

Sorry for disappearing with no warning for a few months. I don’t really have an excuse, just needed a break. Anyway. Still going through the short stories of the prophecies in the guidebook Warriors Field Guide: Secrets of the Clans . Up to Darkness, air, Water, and sky will come Together and Shake the Forest to its Roots .  Honestly, as far as prophecies go, this one seemed pretty bland to me. It didn't grab me like any of the others, but the point of the short story wasn’t the prophecy itself. I guess it was interesting enough in that respect. Here is what I came up with for the summary essay for the short story Darkness, air, Water, and skin will come Together and Shake the Forest to its Roots . The main theme in Darkness, air, Water, and sky will come Together and Shake the Forest to its Roots is trust. Brambleclaw and the rest of the Clan cats trust in StarClan, and its cryptic prophecies. Brambleclaw follows Bluestar's message that she gives to him in a dream. It is...

Four Will Become two, Lion and Tiger Will Meet in Battle, and Blood Will Rule the Forest - Summary Essay

This prophecy , I feel, has the most impact. Not just the warning itself, but what it foretells. I want to talk about the effect of the prophecy itself first, though.   When I first read this on the back of The Darkest Hour , I could not begin to fathom what it meant. I just knew it was not good. That last line: " And blood will rule the forest !" Hearing that is terrifying. It's not a prophecy quickly forgot. For the character, also it has a huge impact. The scene of the hill of bones dripping with blood just drew it home.  From memory, Firestar doesn't even see Bluestar . He can't turn away from the hill of bones and only hears her voice. The fear he must have felt being given such a dire prophecy . Part of it clearly refers to Tigerstar , whom he was already worried about. The state it must have left him in. Having something like that weighing over you. Firestar was the only one who had that experience and knew the most among the living cats. It takes a...

Fire Alone can Save our Clan - Summary Essay

Now we're at the section in Warriors Field Guide: Secrets of the Clans on prophecies . I always loved the books' prophecies , signally how they were often written in large print on the back cover above the blurb. Learning the prophecy long before the characters meant I had plenty of time to guess its meaning. This was always fun to me. And them being cryptic. To me, the prophecies felt like riddles (which I also love to tell and solve).  Although, I know many people hated this about the prophecies from what I've seen from videos on YouTube and comments in forums. Couldn't StarClan be clearer? What's the point of prophecies if the cats don't understand them until they come true? But what are your thoughts on them? Prophecies , like them or hate them, they're a part of life in Warriors . Let's see what the characters' stories about them have to say. Here's the summary essay on the first one, Fire Alone can Save our Clan . The central...

A Forbidden Love - Summary Essay

The theme of A Forbidden Love is a common one. Love is strong. And it’s true, there are few things that can overcome it. The problem with most media is it perpetuates this idea to an extreme. Has anyone else grown tired of hearing ‘ Love can conquer anything’. When consuming media that says this, I concede that it is trumped by little. But it can’t ‘conquer anything’. That’s one thing I love about Warriors . It doesn’t show a slightly more perfect world, especially for the sake of pushing a theme or idea. Crowfeather and Leafpool ’s love is doomed to failure from the start. We all know this. Even the characters know and acknowledge it. Despite their attempts to do anything to be together, it’s shown to be impossible in the main arc . That’s not what this short story 's about though. It’s about love ’s strength. So it ends with a determination to be together no matter what. The main theme in A Forbidden Love is love. Love is a powerful emotion, and, as such, is difficult ...

Tempted by the Kittypet Life - Summary Essay

I feel like I remember this event happening in The Prophecies Begin very vividly. I especially remember one of Cloudpaw's denmates reaction after Fireheart 's announcement when Cloudpaw was taken: "Despite what he does, he would never…" or something close to that. Reading Tempted by the Kittypet Life , though, I could certainly see how Cloudtail thought eating kittypet food was okay and may have even been helping the Clan . Explaining why is a vital part of teaching. The problem is, experiences like Cloudtail's don't happen regularly. As a result, for some parts of the warrior code , the characters may not have explanations for 'why'.  I think Cloudtail relaying his story to his Clanmates was one of the most important things he could do. This was a 'why' for rejecting kittypet life that could teach others the importance of the warrior code . Moreover, it was in the form of a story . Stories are remembered. If you tell someone simple f...

A New Role To Play - Summary Essay

I must admit that I never really thought much about the role elders actually play in the Clan before. They're never brought up in the main series unless the main characters are entertained by stories about the past. This short story helped open my eyes. When you think about it, passing on these stories to the later generations is often really important. It helps instil the importance of the warrior code and listening to your mentor and senior warriors .  Discussing the goings-on in the forest help those who weren't at the gathering or present when a border patrol reported to catch up. Also, the elders might have unique insight and perspective on these things. Things like this are hinted at, but the elders are only really mentioned when they do something warrior-like for the Clan . The incident of this mentioned in the short story is when Rosetail defended the nursery from ShadowClan .  Thinking about it, I think a novella about an elder could be enjoyable. I b...

A New Warrior - Summary Essay

Reading this short story reminded me of one of the things I love about this series . Many of the scenes and situations in Warriors are dark, yet the characters are still happy. They enjoy their lives immensely, despite all the difficulties. In some cases, it’s because of these difficulties. I must say I was pretty happy to see that A New Warrior was more than one page long. I’ve discussed the difficulties with more concise short stories plenty in my other posts on the Warriors Field Guide: Secrets of the Clans . I also really enjoyed seeing the old forest again. It may have only been a short story, but I know the setting so well, I was transported straight back there. I think there’s a couple of reasons I liked this. Firstly, it’s nice to change things up a bit. That’s obvious. The last few short stories were set around the lake. The following reason is the quality of the stories that were already set there. You don’t have to look far in the fandom to find plenty of high praise for...

A New Apprentice - Summary Essay

Another week, another short story . A New Apprentice , told by Birchpaw. This had another different theme for Warriors . The books have looked at pride in various ways before, but it’s always been shown as unfavourable. This is one of the few times that the positive points of this emotion are explored. One thing that does make short stories easier is there is often one, sometimes two main characters. They’re pretty easy to spot, and in the guide books , it’s especially so, as they’re told in the first person by the main character. I’ve said before that short stories are challenging in terms of coming up with a theme. I don’t think I’ve ever touched on the situations, though. I find it difficult to summarise a whole book in a few short sentences. Still, it’s harder to stretch out a short stories synopsis for an entire paragraph. I’d love to know your thoughts on the short story too. You can tell me in the comments or let me know over social media. The central theme in A New A...
