Flight From BloodClan - Summary Essay

Flight from BloodClan had one of those moments I just love to see in Warriors: when a wild cat, including Clan cats, see that twolegs aren’t all bad.

‘From the way he cradled her as they went back inside, I could tell he would take care of her. I don’t know why I felt so sure we could trust him, but I did.’ Pg 144-145.

Don’t get me wrong. I love reading about the cats living their lives away from twolegs. Scenes like this just give me a warm fuzzy feeling, and a part of me’s saying, ‘See, we’re just like you,’ or ‘We do care.’

What do you think of these scenes in Warriors? Do you like them, dislike them, or not really feel either way strongly?

It felt great to do this short story. For one thing, it’s one of the few times we get to see BloodClan, and the difference in their dynamic to the Clans is interesting to read about. Other than this, I only recall The Darkest Hour from The Prophecies Begin and The Rise of Scourge manga.

The second is that writing the summary essay was a little less challenging than the other short stories so far. I’ll admit, working out a theme was a challenge. Still, as I said in a previous post, It’s harder to write entire paragraphs on the shorter stories…and this was five pages! Yay!

And, of course, BloodClan again. This meant five extra pages of BloodClan, too.

I there anything you really like about Warriors or this story in particular? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear about it.

Anyway, below is the summary essay for the short story Flight from BloodClan.

The central theme in Flight from BloodClan is hope. Hope comes from some form of a person being there for you mot often. This can be a mutual relationship where both parties gain something. It can also be where one person helps another. The other person who relies on them can also give them a form of hope. Bone and Scourge provide the hope of strength snd positions of power to those who join Scourge’s guard. This, in turn, gives them hope of better protection. Barley cares for Violet for a long time. Afterwards, he leaves her with Fuzz, and he knows where to find her if he needs to.

The main characters in the short story include the protagonist, Barley. Flight from BloodClan is told in the first person, with Barley telling the soy directly to the reader. Barley and Violet’s brothers Hoot and Jumper, who later become, Snake and Ice, are the main antagonists. They personally threaten Barley and Violet. Violet and Fuzz play prominent roles in Flight from BloodClan, but they are only secondary characters, not main characters. All the other characters in the short story are minor or incidental.

The situations in Flight from BloodClan are listed here. Barley gives an overview of where some of his family has gone. He explains the danger of funning into cats close to Scourge. Barley is hurt. Fuzz finds him and gets his twoleg to heal him. Barley leaves shortly after he has recovered. He finds Violet captured by Bone. Scourge orders Violet to be killed. She survives, and Barley takes her to Fuzz, hoping the twoleg can heal her too. He felt he had to leave her there to keep her safe. He travelled until he found a twoleg nest filled with hay and prey scents and made a nest there.
