I've talked about what I think of the prophecies in the stories before . I've said how I know some people find them annoying because they are cryptic and don't seem to help the characters. I also said how I enjoyed trying to guess at their meaning myself. That's within the world of the stories themselves, though. I think I've finally cracked it. The prophecies are meant to be like this. They're cryptic, confusing, and sometimes aren't understood until they come to pass…because they're a metaphor for life experiences . I was thinking about how cryptic the prophecies are. This one was probably one of the ones you would be least likely to guess the answer to. The characters never guess the meaning, though. Sorry for disappearing with no warning for a few months. I don’t really have an excuse, just needed a break. Anyway. Still going through the short stories of the prophecies in the guidebook Warriors Field Guide: Secrets of the Clans . Up to Darkness, air, Water, and sky will come Together and Shake the Forest to its Roots .  Honestly, as far as prophecies go, this one seemed pretty bland to me. It didn't grab me like any of the others, but the point of the short story wasn’t the prophecy itself. I guess it was interesting enough in that respect. This prophecy , I feel, has the most impact. Not just the warning itself, but what it foretells. I want to talk about the effect of the prophecy itself first, though.   When I first read this on the back of The Darkest Hour , I could not begin to fathom what it meant. I just knew it was not good. That last line: " And blood will rule the forest !" Hearing that is terrifying. It's not a prophecy quickly forgot. For the character, also it has a huge impact. The scene of the hill of bones dripping with blood just drew it home.  From memory, Firestar doesn't even see Bluestar . He can't turn away from the hill of bones and only hears her voice. The fear he must have felt being given such a dire prophecy . Part of it clearly refers to Tigerstar , whom he was already worried about. The state it must have left him in. Now we're at the section in Warriors Field Guide: Secrets of the Clans on prophecies . I always loved the books' prophecies , signally how they were often written in large print on the back cover above the blurb. Learning the prophecy long before the characters meant I had plenty of time to guess its meaning. This was always fun to me. And them being cryptic. To me, the prophecies felt like riddles (which I also love to tell and solve).  Although, I know many people hated this about the prophecies from what I've seen from videos on YouTube and comments in forums. Couldn't StarClan be clearer? What's the point of prophecies if the cats don't understand them until they come true? But what are your thoughts on them?
