Stoneteller is the Healer of The Tribe of Rushing Water . He has the role of both a leader and medicine cat, neither of which he seems to be doing here. He’s the only one who can guide the Tribe , and he’s desperate. And this desperation is reflected in the rest of the Tribe . Whenever you’re in a role where others look to you for guidance you’ve got to be mindful of keeping emotions that are unhelpful in check. Desperate people make rash decisions or are completely devoid of any sort of energy to do anything. Sharptooth attacking the Tribe is bad, but I think Stoneteller’s state of mind is doing just as much harm to them. When those who look up to you sense strong emotions coming from you, they often reflect them. Their collective desperation is self-destructive here. Though maybe I’m being too hard on him.
