I have not read Ravenpaw's Path many times. Although I like the character, the graphic novels don't grab me as much as his novella, and the times he appears in the main series.
I've always been curious as to what this short trilogy is saying. I hope you like the theme that I came up with for the story in the essay below.
Most of these books I bought later than the other mangas. The last one, The Heart of a Warrior, arrived in my local bookstore earlier than the others after I ordered them.
When did you read these books?
The central theme in Ravenpaw's Path is choice. All choices someone makes affects that person's life, and can also change others' lives. Ravenpaw's decision to trust Willie and his friends, and then to take himself and Barley to the moonstone, has both negative and positive impacts on their lives. Hoot and Jumper's decision to kidnap kittypets for their new BloodClan allows ThunderClan to more easily find them thanks to Barley's sister Violet, and Violet's friend Mitzi. These examples show how someone's decisions can affect their own and others lives.
The main characters in the story include the first protagonist, Ravenpaw, who the reader follows most closely throughout the graphic novels. Ravenpaw's decisions are the vital driving force for the main characters. Our second protagonist is Barley, who is Ravenpaw's closest friend, and follows him throughout Ravenpaw's Path. The main antagonists are the old members of BloodClan. These characters include Willie and his group. The other BloodClan members that are named are Jumper and Hoot, also known as Snake and Ice. All the other characters in the story are minor or incidental.
