Tigerclaw's Fury - Summary Essay

This one was an interesting read as the main character is more of a villain. We don’t have many Warriors stories from the villain's point of view.
Usually, I work out a theme halfway through re-reading these. This one was a challenge though. I was thinking about it for several hours after I had finished the book before I’d settled on something. And for a while, I was even wondering if people would care or if it was worth it.
I do see the number of views on my posts, but I don’t know how many people are reading them or enjoying them. I do want to keep my blog going, but I may have to leave it to put all my efforts into other paying jobs if it doesn’t look like I can make anything off it.

Now, without further ado, here is the summary essay for the first book in the Tales From The Clans collection, Tigerclaw’s Fury.

book cover of Warriors: Tales From The Clans

The theme of Tigerclaw’s Fury is learned evil. No one is born evil or with hurtful thoughts in their mind. Evil is learned through watching others, getting constant reinforcement through suggestions, or the decisions of others affecting someone else negatively. Mapleshade mentions to Tigerclaw that she has been guiding him since birth. Throughout the novella, she directs his actions towards this learned evil. She also brings up and uses to manipulate Tigerclaw, the fact that his father left the clan to become a kittypet, convincing him that this tarnished his name.
The main character in the story is Tigerclaw. He is not a conventional protagonist. He may be seen as an antagonist, however, the main antagonist in Tigerclaw’s Fury is Mapleshade. Tigerclaw could be seen as an antihero, not always doing what is morally right, and acting in his own best interests. He also displays this character archetype by doing morally right actions, but for immoral reasons of having others in his debt so that he can later bend them to his will and purposes. All the other characters in the novella are minor or incidental.
The main situations in the story are listed here. Tigerclaw is exiled from ThunderClan. Tigerclaw lives with other previous clan cats outside ShadowClan territory. Tigerclaw plots how he is going to destroy ThunderCan and kill Fireheart by gathering more followers training his cats. He and his companions learn of ShadowClan’s sickness, and Tigerclaw offers to spend time hunting for them. Tigerclaw and his companions are invited to join ShadowClan. The night before the gathering, Jaggedtooth fakes a sign so that Tigerclaw becomes ShadowClan’s new leader.
