I first heard about these books after finishing the first series (for the first time). I remember because a friend and I went with the sixth book, which had an add for the first manga in the back, up to the library reception.
Of course, both of us requested that they get this book in. The librarian said they would look into it, but nothing ever became of that.
I convinced them to get the second series, The New Prophecy, in, which was also advertised in the back of the book. Still to this day, they have only ever gotten one of the mangas. This manga is SkyClan and the Stranger: After the Flood. Yes. They got the third one in that series and none of the others!
I still really wanted to read the mangas however and, next time I got money for birthdays or Christmas, I started collecting the books.
I looked at what they had in my local bookstore and picked up the first two books in SkyClan and the Stranger. I also flipped to the back adds to see what other books were out that I hadn’t read. I ordered as many of the mangas as I could afford.
Although I have had these books for many years, I have not read them that often.
The story does make appreciate Millie. I never had a problem with her character in the main series. But it was still great to see the early days of her and Greystripe’s relationship. And it was fun to read about some of her skills and the like.
Note: In the trilogy, it’s spelt Graystripe. My spellchecker ‘corrected’ it. Haha!
Now, here is the summary essay for Greystripe’s Trilogy.
The main of Greystripe’s Trilogy is being true to yourself. Different sorts of people live in different ways, and often, in different places. They can try to fit in somewhere else, but it will feel wrong. After being true to themselves, the thought of pretending again can seem scary. Greystripe comments on this throughout the story, ‘[He] is trying to make the best of it.’ (pg 23) when living with twolegs but he knows ‘It is wrong.’. When staying in the barn, Greystripe remembers ‘…[he belongs] in the forest…not here.’ (pg 72). After remembering what it means to be a warrior again, he says ‘If I lose sight of what it means to be a warrior again, I…well, I just can’t.’ (pg 45).
The main characters include the protagonist, Greystripe, who the reader follows throughout the story. Another main character is Millie, who joins Greystripe on his journey, is his loyal friend, and, at the end of the graphic novels, becomes his mate. The main antagonists are twolegs. In the first book, they take Greystripe away from his Clan and keep him locked up most of the time. Throughout, and more so in the second book, they other yell and swipe at him, and sometimes other cats too. They destroyed ThunderClan’s old home in the final book.
