Dovewing's Silence - Summary Essay

The first time I read Dovewing’s Silence, I found it rather dry and boring. It was okay, especially the dream scene (I tend to like dream sequences), but overall I didn’t like it.
Because the title only refers to the three losing their powers, picking it up this time, the only part of the novella I recalled was the dream scene.
I did enjoy looking at Blackstar’s reaction to the ex-Dark Forest recruits though, and their clanmate's treatment of them.

Here is the summary essay for the final novella in the Tales From The Clans collection, Dovewing’s Silence.

cover of Warriors: Tales Of The Clans book

The main theme in Dovewing’s Silence is moving on or letting go of the past. When things or people change, it can be difficult for some people to let go of how things used to be, to move on. The three have to come to terms with losing their powers and learn to live without them. The clans are also having trouble forgiving their clanmates who trained in the Dark Forest. To fix the divides in the clans, the leaders agree to make these cats swear a new oath to the Warrior Code and their respective clans and clanmates.
The main character in the novella is the protagonist, Dovewing, who’s point of view tells the story to the reader. The main groups of characters are the ex-Dark Forest recruits, who Dovewing feels closely connected to because her sister is one of them, and the antagonist, the cats in ThunderClan and the other clans who do not trust the ex-Dark Forest recruits. All the other characters in the story are minor or incidental.
The main senes in Dovewing’s Silence are: Dovewing notices she is losing her powers. The other members of the three don’t want to talk about it. Dovewing includes the ex-Dark Forest recruits in her hunting patrol, and apprentices lead them into a trap. The leaders agree to make their ex-Dark Forest recruits to swear a new oath to the Warrior Code and their clan. The three discuss losing their powers and go to the moon pool. Rock and Midnight explain that the three only needed their powers whilst the Dark Forest was a threat.
