Here is the summary easy for the final novella, Shadowstar’s Life, in the Path of a Warrior collection.
The main theme in Shadowstar’s Life is the choices other people make and how they affect you. People want a sense of control, and achieve this by seeing the changes their choices can make. However, everyone else’s choices can also affect one’s life. In the novella, Quick Water tries to make ShadowClan weak, so that SkyClan can have their land. Her choices kill Sun Shadow and this causes Skystar to banish her. When Thunderstar chooses to trust Quick Water, Skystar believes he judged her too quickly and made a mistake. WindClan and ShadowClan choose to try and drive Quick Water out themselves, which results in her and Shadowstar killing each other.
The main characters in the story, Shadowstar’s Life, are the protagonist, Shodowstar herself, whom we follow throughout the story, and Quick Water, who is the main antagonist in the novella. All the other characters in the story, play only minor or incidental roles in Shadowstar’s Life.
The main situations in the novella are as follows. Skystar is worried he will lose his territory. After staying back to comfort him, Shadowstar and Sun Shadow are attacked by dogs. Shadowstar sees amber eyes watching them before she and Sun Shadow are killed. After Shodowstar comes back, she sees if high stones would make a good territory for SkyClan. She is pushed in front of a monster, and then attacked, by a cat she thinks is Quick Water. She confronts Skystar, and, after questioning her, he banishes Quick Water. When Thunderstar stands up for her, and Skystar allows her back, WindClan and ShadowClan launch an attack, resulting in the death of Shadowstar and Quick Water.
