We’ve reached the halfway point of the sixth arc, A Vision of Shadows. Here is the third book in that series, Shattered Sky.
The theme that Shattered Sky looks at is the instinctual bond of blood kin. Whether someone knows their blood relatives or not, there is an almost instinctual belief that they will care for, and be kind to each other. When Violetpaw attacks Twigpaw, this belief is shattered, and Twigpaw feels an immense sense of betrayal. Violetpaw also feels guilty afterwards and believes for a long time that her sister will never be able to forgive her. When Twigpaw finds out she may have a father, she does everything in her power to try and find him, even sneaking out of camp, and going on the long journey alone. She wholly believes her father will be overjoyed to see her.
The main characters in this book are the three protagonists whose point of view we see the story through. These are Alderheart, Violetpaw, and Twigpaw. The main antagonist in the story is Darktail. All the other characters and groups of characters that appear in Shattered Sky are either minor or incidental.
The main situations on Shattered Sky are as follows. The clans attack Darktail’s group. Onestar suddenly pulls WindClan from the battle, and the clans lose. WindClan closes its borders. Darktail attacks and takes RiverClan’s territory. Bramblestar lets RiverClan stay in ThunderClan’s camp, and tells the other clans about SkyClan. Violetpaw starts sneaking cats out of the Darktail’s group. Needletail dies. ShadowClan, RiverClan, and ThunderClan retake RiverClan’s territory. Twigpaw brings SkyClan to the lake. Darktail attacks WindClan. Onestar reveals that Darktail’s his son. All five clans help to drive Darktail’s rouges from the lake. Darktail and Onestar drown fighting each other.
