Here is the summary essay for the fourth book in the sixth arc in Warriors - A Vision of Shadows, Darkest Night.
The main theme in Darkest Night is that of change. Change is natural and happens all the time. It is said that the only thing that will never change is change. The warrior clans experience a lot of change in the book, especially with the establishment of ShyClan. Twigpaw and Violetpaw now have kin beyond each other, and they both move to SkyClan to be with them. Many of the SkyClan cats are having difficulty accepting the idea that they are lake cats, insisting on teaching their apprentices skills they would have needed in the gorge, but are useless in their new territory. Towards the end of the book, ShadowClan ceases to exist altogether.
The main characters in the book include the two protagonists whose point of view we see most of the world through, Violetpaw and Twigpaw. Hawkwing, SkyClan’s deputy, is the father of the two protagonists, and is often spending time with or talking about them. ShadowClan also plays a large role as a source of tension in much of the book. These are all the main characters in this instalment of the story.
The main situations in the book are as follows: In the first gathering scene RiverClan closes it’s borders, and ShadowClan gives SkyClan some of their land. Twigpaw and Violetpaw join SkyClan. The medicine cats receive a prophecy saying “the darkening sky must not herald a storm’. SkyClan sends a patrol to search for missing classmates in the gorge. Willowshine gets a prophecy about a six toed cat that can help to drive back ‘the darkness’. Violetpaw starts seeing Needletail’s ghost, who eventually leads her to the six-toed cat Tree. ShadowClan becomes part of SkyClan. Tree raises the spirits of the recently dead ShadowClan cats, and they tell Rowanstar he must find his missing clan-mates and reform ShadowClan.
