I’m now writing summary essays for the prequel series for Warriors, Dawn Of the Clans. Here is the summary essay for the first book, The Sun Trail.
The main theme of The Sun Trail is finding your home. Your home is not always where you were born, grew up, or even where your family is. Throughout the book, the individual characters do their best to figure out where they fit in in the world. Stoneteller and Lion’s Roar discuss how the tribe used to live somewhere other than the mountains, but Stoneteller affirms that this is her, and most of the tribes true home. From early on, it can be seen that Jagged Peak has a longing to explore. He asks if the tribe has been to all the mountain peaks, and wants more than anything to go with the travelling cats out of the mountains to find a new home. Throughout the journey, Grey Wing often comments about whether or not a place feels ‘right’ when the others think they have found their new home. At the end of the book, the mountain cats have divided into two groups, each in their preferred home.
The main characters in the book are Grey Wing and his brothers Clear Sky, and Jagged Peak. Shaded Moss, and Tall Shadow are the main leaders of the mountain cats during the two halves of the book. Turtle Tail has a fairly main role as Grey Wing's close friend, and Storm is a love interest for both Grey Wing and Clear Sky.
The main events in the book are: Stoneteller has a vision of the sun trail. Shaded Moss leads a group of cats out of the mountains, and dies on the journey. Clear Sky’s mate dies, and for a long time Grey Wing blames himself for her death. After reaching their new home, several of the group choose to move to the forest. Other rouges move in with Clear Sky and he drives out any cats that he believes are threatening his ‘territory’. Storm meets Grey Wing and Clear Sky, and falls in love with the latter, eventually giving birth to his kits. Clear Sky drives away Jagged Peak after he is injured, and rejects his son after Storm's death. Both go to live on the moor with Grey Wing.
As always, any critiques are welcome, and I am always looking for art to use in my essays. Feel free to leave comments here or contact me on social media.
Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoy these. If you do, please consider supporting me. And a big thank you to all my patrons.
Note: Next week I will be doing a summary on the bonus story at the end of this book. The summary essay for book two will be in a fortnights time.
