This is the summary essay for the second book in the Omen Of The Stars series, Fading Echoes.
The theme of Fading Echoes is the idea of what you should use your skills for, or when it is morally right to use an ability you have, that others may not. This is explored using Dovepaw's abilities, as one of the three. In the first instance, she uses her powers to try and check that members of another clan are okay, after an incident wth a dog. This shows divided loyalties between her clan and another. Some of these friendships cause problems later on. Although you may have the ability to know what others are up to, it doesn't mean you should always be looking out for those you care bout. She also causes rifts in her relationships with others thanks to her exceptional skills. Although having a special skill is something to be proud of, you shouldn't flaunt it, or use it to get special treatment. It is important to know when to use your skills and abilities, and what to use them for.
The main characters in Fading Echoes are the three protagonists Dovepaw, Jayfeather, and Lionblaze. Also important is Dovepaw's sister, Ivypaw, who starts meeting one of the main antagonists, Hawkfrost. The other main antagonists are Tigerstar, and Brokenstar. There are few other notable, or important to this book specifically, characters.
The main situations in this book are Ivypaw and Dovepaw visit WindClan without permission. Firestar finds out about the three's powers, and starts giving Dovepaw different treatment to the other apprentices. This causes her sister to become jealous, and makes it easy for Hawkfrost to tempt her into the Dark Forest. Tigerstar gets Ivypaw to convince Firestar to go into a battle against ShadowClan, in which Firestar loses a life, and the ShadowClan deputy, Russetfur, dies.
